Summer 2008

The 2008 REC Soccer Season will start the week of May 27 and end with the Wings Jamboree (mini-tournament) on July 26, 2008. Under 6 (ages 4, 5 & 6) players play co-ed soccer. Under 8 (ages 6, 7 & 8) players play single gender, boys and girls games. The MYSA birthday cut off date is July 31 (so what age you are on July 31 of the upcoming year ~ is the age you play at. Ex. = Birthday of March 31, 2002, the child will be 6 on July 31, 2008 so this child would be in the U6 age bracket.)

Our U6 players will play on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm - 7:30pm. The U8 age players will play on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6pm - 7:30pm. All teams will be playing at the Wings Soccer Complex (Hosterman) AND a Plymouth location TBD.

The games are played on a small field with teams playing 4 v 4. The advantages to small sided play include increased number of touches on the ball, more time with the coach and more playing time. There are 10-12 children on each team and players are encouraged to sign up with friends, neighbors and school buddies. Wings will make every effort to place players with requested players or coaches.

The cost for the Summer 2008 Recreational Program, which includes the jersey, shorts and socks and the Jamboree trophy (along with all kinds of fun!) is only $85. Sign up early to get your spot on a team!

Each child will need to supply a size 3 ball and shin guards. Soccer cleats are optional. A water bottle is suggested on the hot summer days.

Coaches

Coaching REC soccer is a fun way to spend time with your child and their teammates! Volunteer coaches are very important to our program. No experience is necessary, Wings SC will provide equipment, training, coaching manual and administrative support. Each team requires 2 coaches, so you can sign up with a friend. If you are interested or have any questions please make a note on your registration form.
